Summer BBQ 2018
The sun shone for at least part of the annual summer bbq held at Dudsbury in August. Volunteers and staff from Bournemouth, Christchurch, Dorchester & Poole depots gathered together for one of the favourite events of the year, giving time for everyone to catch up and chat. We also celebrated with lots of food and traditional sports day type games with Christchurch depot coming out overall winners. The charity holds several events...
Junior Top Gear Trophy
This inaugural event was held to celebrate the life of Paul Tovey, assistant manager at Poole, who was killed last year. It was chosen as Paul had a love of motorsports and was an avid competitor in any team or solo event. Our team of 12 raced around a local track with Dean from Christchurch winning a specially created trophy representing Paul’s time in the army, with Kirsty the manager at Poole winning the “Miss Daisy “ award...

Reclaim helps “Tip Off” local residents
Dorset Reclaim is helping with a series of road shows across the county where Dorset Waste Partnership officers are talking to local people about what they can do to help report or stop fly-tipping activity. The campaign is being widely promoted in the local press, on radio and across social media. We are helping the “Tip Off” campaign by providing each road show site with examples of items that are found dumped to highlight the...
Presentation from Ferndown Golf Club
In one of his last duties as Project Manager, Ray Tovey attended Ferndown Golf Club on Wednesday 11th April with Roy Osborough, Chairman for the annual charity event at which presentations are made to local groups. Funds are raised by the clubs members though the generous support of golfers participating at the Peter Alliss Invitational in the past year, together with a dinner and charity auction. Dorset Reclaim was fortunate to be...

Retirement Beckons
After 20 years at the helm of Dorset Reclaim, Ray Tovey has amazed us all and decided to retire. He was the first member of staff appointed by the trustees in 1998 and has guided the charity from its early days of one depot and a borrowed van, through to where we are now with 4 warehouses, 28 staff, 11 vehicles and over 80 volunteers. A truly remarkable achievement by any standard. Ray said “I have been very lucky in having some great...
Volunteer Dan’s New Transport
A very fine red mobility scooter was donated to us recently and we came up with the perfect idea of who should receive it. Dan, a long term volunteer at Dorchester who works in the warehouse, was very happy to have the scooter to give him the chance of increased independence when at home. Happy...
Theatre Rentals
Theatre groups around Bournemouth often need props for their productions, so that’s where we come in. We rent out any of our stock for 25% of the value (plus delivery if required) which is returned at the end of the show. Reclaim is about reuse, so what better way for furniture that could have been thrown away to find a new lease of life in period theatre scenes. The picture shows a selection of Reclaim props at a play staged last...
