Retirement Beckons

After 20 years at the helm of Dorset Reclaim, Ray Tovey has amazed us all and decided to retire.

He was the first member of staff appointed by the trustees in 1998 and has guided the charity from its early days of one depot and a borrowed van, through to where we are now with 4 warehouses, 28 staff, 11 vehicles and over 80 volunteers. A truly remarkable achievement by any standard.

Ray said “I have been very lucky in having some great people to work with me. I was given an opportunity to create something from scratch and have enjoyed nearly every minute of it. It has been very fulfilling, though not always an easy. I wish the charity well for the future and my colleagues every success. ”

He added “Thank you to everyone for their support over the years which I have really appreciated, and for the good wishes received for my retirement.”

Under Ray’s guidance, the charity has become established as one of the country’s leading furniture & electrical reuse charities, recognised for not only the amount of household items it reuses but for its remarkable work with volunteers.
