Volunteer

We are all about people at Reclaim with one of our main aims to provide volunteering opportunities for the local community.

What's on offer

There are a variety of roles available Monday – Friday and times are to suit you, whether a few hours or a few days a week.

You might like to help our customers, organise the warehouse or sort orders, help with deliveries and collections, clean or repair furniture or help with telephone calls and administration. In some branches we can offer woodworking and electrical testing as well.

If you would prefer to come in and complete a one off task, maybe with a group of friends or colleagues, or perhaps volunteer your skills remotely, contact us to see what we can offer you.

A variety of roles are usually on offer at any of Dorset Reclaim’s three depots, these include:

A great way to interact with the public in a customer service role through helping and advising customers visiting the project. Working in a team environment, there is also data input and general record keeping to be done.

There are a variety of duties, including general record keeping – both manual and computer, dealing with the many telephone calls to the project, filing and general office work.

A busy job handling the incoming donated items and the orders going out to customers, together with ensuring the warehouse is properly laid out and goods are displayed for customers to see.

This role is out and about, collecting and delivering furniture and electrical items in various areas – you’ll need a driving licence, a good sense of direction and an ability to work well with the van crews. You will also be dealing with the many people who donate goods or receive items from our project.

We have 8 vans working each day, with a driver and the two members of the van crew team on board. This role involves collecting and delivering furniture and electrical goods from both houses and business premises and assisting the driver with navigation and dealing with our customers.

We always need people who are happy to help with cleaning and preparing donated items. Ensuring our customers receive good quality, clean items is very important to us – just because the items are second hand, it doesn’t mean they should look second class. Additionally, if you can help with the cleaning and maintenance of the office, warehouse and buildings from which we work, we would like to hear from you.

We have both electrical and woodworking workshops where donated items are fully tested and repaired where necessary. Working with the engineers, we can help you in attaining new skills (such as a PAT testing qualification), or you can help others if you already have abilities in this field.
Our trustees are interested in seeing the charity thrive and maintain services to the local community. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and live locally. If you have a passion for people, an interest in reuse and can offer your skills for a few hours a month, contact us at our Bournemouth branch.”

Interested?

You can either contact the branch you would like to volunteer at and speak to the manager or complete the volunteer query form.

We encourage you to arrange to call in for an informal chat and a look around to see what we can offer you.
