Disposal FAQs

What are the charges?

In the vast majority of cases it is £36 for the first item, and £8 for every item thereafter, but there are some items that may cost more, such as pianos, range cookers or large American style fridge/freezers. It can also vary dependent on where you live, as our disposal costs are different based on your postcode. There are also some items charged at a lower rate.

We operate the service during our normal working hours of Monday to Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm and Fridays: 8.30am – 4.00pm.

Yes. We cannot collect the following:

  • Soil & Rubble

  • Asbestos materials

  • Plasterboard

  • Clinical or hazardous waste

  • Bags of garden waste

  • Bags of household waste

  • Builders waste, such as double gazing units and sanitary ware 

Yes, we are usually happy to collect your items from inside your home.

We collect from upstairs areas except when access prevents us getting an unusually large or heavy item out of your home, but we will always do our best.

Yes, we can collect from outbuildings & garages.

When we arrive, you can pay us by cash or card and even by cheque if you can still find your chequebook!

There may be an exception if you think you will not be there on the day, but this would be confirmed when arrangements are made.

We do our best to ensure as much as possible goes on to be reused or recycled, so we separate out wood and metals & all electrical items are taken for specialist treatment to be dismantled. We are also fully licensed by the Environment Agency so you can have peace of mind about where your items end up.

We can disconnect washing machines and electric cookers if the connections are standard and in good order. We do not disconnect any gas appliances.
Yes, we can help businesses but there may be a variation in our standard charges depending on the items you ask us to collect.

Dorset Reclaim is registered with the Environment Agency as a registered waste carrier, a Designated Collection Facility (DCF) and holds all the necessary authorisations & licences to be able to collect unwanted working electrical goods and other household items.
